svanimta asked: I think it's so great that you would take time to visit India like you did, how did you like it overall? Favorite and least favorite parts? (:

Day 6- What does "home" mean to you?
This is always a question I love because I have such an incredibly strong sense of home.
We moved when I was two and a half, and I only remember growing up in the one house I grew up in, where my mom and dad still live (which I’m going to visit this weekend!). My Dad had great parents, but moved every two years, my Mom had one home, but grew up poor with an alcoholic coal-mining father. I...
girlwithagnome asked: So, in the magic that is Tumblr, I randomly stumbled upon your blog. I'm studying abroad in Hyderabad this semester! What's it like being home?

YAAAAAAAY!
So I know I’ve been fucking up, I still need to finish my 15 day challenge (and I will, I swear!) but I’ve been distracted because I’m trying to get my freaking life in order, particularly schoolwork and making my room not look like a holding cell for an insane person. But here’s the awesome news:
MY ROOMIE FROM INDIA IS COMING INTO TOWN TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited...

Day 3- Adventure or Challenge you had while...
Um, what adventures and challenges DON’T you have when you move to the other half of the planet?
Biggest Challenges:
- LANGUAGE BARRIER
- Where do they keep the REAL cheese?
- “Is this water sanitary? It looks questionable to me!”
- “You think I’m paying 150 rupees for THAT? Mai bewakoof nahi hu.”
-Having trouble getting off campus or around anywhere on...

ONE LAST THING
The study abroad fair is tomorrow, and I will be working one of the booths. Who knows, maybe I’ll do a lil bit of live blogging from it, work on this 15 day challenge. Either way, dat ish starts tomorrow.

Travel Challenge
Okay, I found this off another cool travel blog, passportsandplaces (but did make some slight changes, you know). It seems like a good way to kick off my “new” blog. She’s using hers as a comedown from Australia, so I’ll use mine for my re-entry culture shock (I’m just now getting) and for missing India and my travel inclined brain.
Day 01- Favorite Place(s) you...

SAME BLOG, NEW STYLE
I’m changing this baby up! Not just the layout, the idea. I want this blog to be dedicated to all my travel experiences, and all the dreams that I have of traveling. I plan on going back and putting more pictures and stories and such from India, but I also seek to explore my future dreams.
On another note!
I got some culture shock, and some big plans a brewin’.

Uhhhhhhhhmmmmm....
…sums up how I feel entirely. I feel like I don’t know anything. Am I having culture shock? Can I feel the change? Is it good to be back? Does it suck to have left India?
My brain just feels like it’s all over the place when it comes to being back here.
Did India really happen? Was I really there for a life-changing five months? And even if I was there, how do I measure...

I am home
Sorry I haven’t posted that I landed. I am indeed, back in the US of A. There are still so many pictures and stories to be posted, so lookforward to that. Here’s one of my favorite photos from my trip up north with my bestie Meghan. We had just finished our camel ride, and we were enjoying the sand and the sun in Pushkar.

Leaving
I am leaving. Getting in my cab soon. I’m all packed, my room is a mess, and I’m sure my bags are too heavy. I’m not ready for reverse culture shock. I’m not ready to leave India. I am so ready to be home. I am so ready to see the good things about America again.
I love you India. Thank you for all the lessons. I’ll miss you. A lot.

Everyone is leaving
And so am I. But everyone I love has been leaving, and I’m the last person to go. And the fewer people left, the harder the departures. I cried twice this morning saying goodbye and then realizing that my roommate and best friend are leaving within 11 hours of each other, a process which begins at 4 PM today. I know it’s just an Indian five minutes until we see each other again,...

"Shanti, Shanti"
I am currently in Rishikesh (look dat ish up). I’m hanging out at the foothills of the Himilayas, and the beginning of the Ganges river.
So here’s a fast update. I flew here with Meghan, my travel buddy for our final adventure and my best friend here. We flew into Delhi on the 19th. Ended up hooking up a tour package after realizing we had no idea what we were doing. We spent one...

You know you been in India for too long when....
-You see and American movie and legitimately think “What the fuck, they’re on the wrong side of the road?”
-You no longer get surprised when you see monkeys
-An Elephant on the busy city streets of Delhi warrants no more than a “Oh wow, that’s crazy” and not a “HOLY SHIT WHAT IS LIFE I DON’T UNDERSTAND”
-You can comfortably ignore begging...

FINAL ADVENTURE, ALL ABOARD
So I’ve clearly been a terrible blogger. Exams had me, and then this trip planning.
Well let me tell you, I am done with exams, and now I am in a half hour headed in my taxi to my flight up to Delhi to begin my Northern adventure. It feels so grown up and scary and exiciting and amazing and fantastic. I’m meeting Coley up there, but Megs and I are trekking together. It’s...

I'm the cover article for the Study Abroad...
So if you go to UNCA, pick up a copy. There are some pictures, there are some words, and they are all from me.
But, ya know, only get one if you really want one.
(but you really should support our study abroad department, and you know it)

25 Days Left
I’m in Hyderabad for 9 more days.
I’m traveling up North for 11 days.
Then I have five more days before I get on my plane back home.
This is getting real.

One Month to go...
So I made it home safe and sound from the wild, wearisome and wonderful trip to Anjuna Beach, Goa. It was incredible, and there are plenty of stories to accompany it, which I may tell at another time. We’re hitting exam time so I probably won’t be able to post too much.
In other news, at this time exactly four weeks from now, I will be sitting in the Delhi Airport waiting to get on...

GONNA GO A GOA
It’s time for me to go on my wildest adventure yet- Anjuna Beach, Goa! It’s where the Portugese (the first to land in India) landed, it’s where all the hippies in the 60s flocked, and now it’s where me and my friends are headed. There’s seafood, swimming, shopping, fun in the sun, and trance parties at night. It’ll be relaxing, raging, and wonderful....
